Yellow Fever Week #1 Update

Yellow fever has come to Orm! The outbreak is centered around the Burning Witch. So far, it seems like members of the 111th Company and Fancy's hirelings have bore the brunt of the illness. The following patrons have caught the illness: Turwin (patient 0): ill six days and counting Turq: ill five days and on the road to recovery Excellent Witch Kilith: ill five days and counting Yeoman Klang: ill five days and on the road to recovery Kestrel Mask: ill five days and counting Those that contract the illness and recovery develop an immunity if they survive the follow 2 to 3 weeks of recovery without slipping into a coma.

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #31- To the Vats!

After receiving the report from the Midnight Marauders, a group from the Burning Witch decided to form a party for a last minute mission into "The Complex" following up on the mercenary dungeon delvers' excursion into Level 2 territory held by Valtrpois the self-proclaimed Sorcerer King. The party included: Abraxis (Level 1 Fighting-Mutant) Betina (Level 2 Fighter) Palla (Level 0 Amazon hireling) Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvillers (Level 1 Bard) Turq and Turwin (Level 0 Men-at-Arms hirelings) Frim Frimerson (Level 1 Fighter) Journeyman Crannoc (Level 3 Magic-User) The Feathered Beast (Monster Retainer) Phasmo (Level 3 Magic-User) The party returned mostly uninjured (except for some strange rings on bruising on Betina and Palla). They were carrying a locked metal box and smelled of fresh smoke. Loot 1 scroll 1 bottle that appears empty yet feels like it contains a liquid 1 cat in a bottle with a cork stopper (claimed by Fancy) 4 liquid matrices Expe

Bor's Latest Journal Entry

Here is the latest journal entry of Bors Redbeard as provided by his player Shahnawaz covering the latest dragon-slaying moves by the Drinking Crow adventurers: Bors’ Journal Entry eight:         Dragon Slayers!!! That is what we are now! While checking up on Brother 47, we met some dwarves that needed to get gold as components to help fix their “flying ship” and mentioned that they knew where a huge horde of treasure was, the 2 catches is that they get a finder’s fee and that we’d have to kill a dragon and try and save their friend along the way. We decided that this is as good of a time as any to try and test our mettle.  With great planning from the Hero Malagath, Willow the Wisp’s terrier Mr. Fantastic was able to finally slay the beast, he certainly earned his name this day. With this haul, I might be able to help make the Drinking Crow expand and get more clientele! The Redbeard name with continue to grow!

The Midnight Marauders Triumphant Return from Their Raid and Other News Around Orm!

Image
It has been a minute but here is some of the latest rumors and news passing through the taverns and backroom games of chances in Orm: Advertisments plaster Orm, including in the Burning Witch and the Drinking Crow. Invitations on fancy card in elegant sealed many-hued envelopes have gone out to all lesser potentates, semi-noble personages, and wizards estimable and not so estimable. “Phasmo the Seer invites you to the grand re-opening gala of the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun, featuring roasted pig and candied dates, hearty ale and piquant pernod, with such rustic entertainment as orm has to offer. Take a tour of the library and the wonders of that mysterious sanctum known as The Complex!” The Athenaeum occupies a ruined bathhouse, with a newly restored grand entrance with copper doors that are painted the colors of the dying sun, flanked by tasteful nudes with harpy wings. Across the whole places, wild roses and ivy grow. Guests are led up an exterior stairway to the roof, where li

Adventures of the Drinking Crow Session #13- Dragon Slayers!!!

Last time the adventurers from the Drinking Crow entered the Complex, they came back with a literal mound of treasure. This seems to have lead to a bit of decrease in their sense of urgency planning their next delve. As they walked across the harbor, the following party could be heard still discussing plans: Bors Redbeard (Level 2 Dwarf) Fredrick Featherstone (Level 2 Vestigator) Malagath Finbaros (Level 1 Elf) "Aldopho" (aka Many-Faced Gene Level 1 Assassin hireling)  V'Naïss Two-Face (Level 2 Vatspawn) Willow the Wisp (Level 1 Illusionist) Mr. Fantastic (dungeon terrier) The party returned with a cart piled high with treasure and a one-armed Brothers known as "No. 47" in tow. Bors' armor was scorched and his beard singed. The following scrap of paper was found on the ground next to the cart after it was emptied: V’naïss Two-Face’s To-Do List: 1. Pay someone to research Huugal Aereth (the guy whose skull I found). 2. Listen to some red mo

The Armor of Osero Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvillers paid 100gp to delve into the stacks at the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun to learn more about the magical armor discovered in a secret area of Level 1 of "The Complex" . There isn't much of the items history within the library's collection but the first lead lies in the serial stories popular in the later years of the Empire-That-Was. The rakish Osero wore a golden shirt of chain with a bird emblem on its chest. Osero would sing the bird awake and it would join in song enchanting the rings to a greater strength. The armor was not made for Osero. He won it when he defeated the devilish bandit king Di'volo and freed the 33 holy children of Ilstan (what is now where the Principality of Kouz sits). Story goes that three generations before, the armor was forged for the 1st Warden of the Elfin Marches' daughter as a gift from the Half-Light elfin artisans trying to woo her hand. The armor, however, never made it to h

Downtime Catch-Up Post #2

Here are two downtimes covering the mentoring of Scamandros and Phasmo in the learning of their 2nd Level spells. Riverborn Scamandros Beholds a New Spell Upon reaching the level of "Beholder", Riverborn Scamandros approached the Midnight Marauder Zarthur Mare to study a new spell under his mentorship. Zarthur reminded his fellow Transcendental Congress member to not tie himself too closely to one teacher too closely- else he become just an instrument of that teacher. Plus, the magic-user added, "I am only a Seer. I couldn't teach you your next level spell if I thought continued mentorship was a good idea." Instead, Zarthur pointed Scamandros out towards the low marshlands to the West of Orm to find a new mentor in the magician known as Horbit. Out along the reeds along the river Sarn, Scamandros finds the mud hill hovel that serves as the lair for the accomplished rival of the arcane weaver Shrune-- Horbit. While the damp lodgings and workspace Horb

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #30- Into the Un-Gnome

Riverborn Scamandros had piqued the curiosity of a handful of Burning Witch regulars with talk of another dungeon canoeing trip. This time, he wanted to follow up with Brian the Gnome and treat with the gnome community of "The Complex". When it came time to launch the canoes, only a pair of fellow adventurers stood ready. Word has it that the mutant Abraxis was maybe wrapped up in some of the unrest that is becoming a regular event in Orm while Crambo had  accidentally fallen asleep after indulging in some frozen treats and hill dwarf spirits. Both ended up literally missing the boat on this delve. The following party (including a heavily supplement of members of the 111th Company) explored the waters inside "The Complex": Betina (Level 2 Fighter) Old Woman (Level 0 Doomsayer hireling), deceased Scamandros (Level 3 Magic-User) Kiddo (Level 1 Magic-User hireling) Wolfgang (Level 1 Duelist) Geoph (Level 1 Gnome hireling) When they stumbled back into t

Downtime Catch-Up Post #1

Here is the first post of several catching up on downtime activities I had been bad about resolving. This one covers a couple of things Scamandros and Hate Pit have done in the recent weeks. Scamandors and the Gnomes of Indos na Egra Eithog While over 100 dwarves worked on the creation of what the hill dwarfin documents refer to as  The Halls of the Distant Fathers , only 12 are cited as being on the initial contracts (which are not found among the scrolls in the Athenaeum). Of those, only three stayed in Ur-Dan after the migration upon the projects completion: Stoney Rock, Butch Goldbeard, and Lode. That the dwarves that became the Rootless only contained membership of one fourth of the initial contractors the grand subterranean project their descents now are trying to claim looks to place the claim on dubious footing. Traditional, surviving signers or their descents all have to be involved in a claim using the Clause of Abandonment. These legal waters, though, seem to be muddy

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #29- In the Red Hive **Updated with Sketches**

All week, Phasmo had broken from the studies that have been taking up his time of late to corner a potential party with a mission he was cooking up. They were very hushed in their discussion as they poured over the community maps along with the one purchased by Phasmo from the Midnight Marauders. As the following group left for "The Complex", PakPak was over heard saying, "Wait, who are we attacking? I didn't know that was the plan!" GaWoosh (Level 1 Gnome) Journeyman Crannoc (Level 3 Magic-User) Feathered Beast (monster retainer) PakPak (Level 3 Kobold) Sonja Strong (Level 1 Fighter) Phasmo (Level 3 Magic-User) Thea Noir (Level 3 Assassin) The party returned unharmed, some of them in the suits of the Red Hive and GaWoosh still under an invisibility  spell. They carried several coffers carried on spears, a chest tied to the feathered beast, and a leather sack as they returned to Orm. Here are a couple of in-session sketches by GaWoosh's pla

Adventurers of the Drinking Crow Session #12-There and Back Again...Twice **Updated with Bors' Journal Entry**

The adventurers based out of the Drinking Crow were very secretive about their plans all for their next delve. Bors Redbeard, though, was seen buying several block and tackles along with 150ft. of rope and a dozen sugary pastries from a baker. The following party left in the direction of "The Complex" early in the morning on the first working day of the week: Bors Redbeard (Level 2 Dwarf) Fredrick Featherstone (Level 1 Vestigater) Malagath Finbaros (Level 1 Elf) V'Naïss Two-Face (Level 2 Vatspawn) Will the Wisp (Level 1 Illusionist) Mister Fantastic (dungeon terrier) The party return to Orm later that morning carrying a sealed chest that they immediately took to the local blacksmith. After a night's rest and hireling hiring spree at the 111th Company, the party returned to the seaside dungeon with the following assistants: Whiskers Redbeard (Level 1 Dwarf hireling) The Sargent (Level 0 Woman-at-Arms hireling) Butterfingers (Level 1 Halfling hireling)

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #28- Return to Sourwood

Image
For weeks, the quest against the Oloth El'gg Ssusson presented by Lady Blackmarsh herself has come been an item of curious discussion at the Burning Witch's communal tables. This week, though, the enterprising kobold PakPak decided to finally pull together a team to journey out into Sourwood Marsh to attempt the question. The following party were seen leaving Orm in the direction of Kêm  as the embarked on their endeavor: Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvillers (Level 1 Bard) Turq and Turwin (Level 0 Men-at-Arms hirelings) Glys (Level 0 Crossbow Woman hireling), deceased Hate Pit (Level 2 Vat Spawn) Journeyman Crannoc (Level 3 Magic-User) PakPak (Level 3 Kobold) Sergio Cankersore (Level 3 Half-Elf) Scamandros (Level 3 Magic-User) Kiddo (Level 1 Magic-User retainer) The party discovered a cavern entrance into the King's Barrow where some unusual guards claimed that it was the home of "The Worthy". The party returned to Orm, bearing Glys' body and
