Underworld Adventurer

Here are two player reports from the Dragon Slayers of the Drinking Crow Session #23 . First up is another To-Do List from Copra's player Avi:  Copra Kään’s To-Do List: -Watch helplessly as a comrade becomes stone-hearted.  -Defeat a Gorgon and a level-stealing corpse.  -Shed my skin and get harder.  -Free some Sphinx riddlers.  -Set a Water Weird on fire. Second is the latest entry in the journal of Bors Redbeard:   Bors’ Journal Entry fifteen:         We’ve (hopefully) temporarily lost Fredrick and Gregor, but we did manage to kill the bull and ghoul that made them into stone.  Lefty mentioned after the fight that he seemed weaker than before. He wasn’t able to pinpoint the feeling, like he wasn’t as experienced of a fighter as he used to be. No muscle weakness or anything like that.  But we were able to make it out with some fine treasure and the stone remains of our friends.  We need to figure out how to turn them back.  Kopra took some of the flesh of the bull beast and grafte

Bors Redbeard feared being short of coin during an upcoming hiatus the dwarfin adventurer had to take due to a familial matter. As a result, he suggested to his fellow Dragon Slayers that they should focus their next delve into 'The Complex' on locating treasure. No one seemed to disagree. They settled on traveling north to the dungeon entrance located in the ruins of Orm-of-Old. As the following party left, they could be overheard discussing how many they should take the elevator down to Level 3 and get revenge on those 'gargoyles' before hunting for treasure: Bors Redbeard (Level 4 Dwarf) Left Redbeard (Level 2 Dwarf retainer) Copra Kaan (Level 4 Vat Spawn) Fredrick Featherstone (Level 4 Vestigater), turned to stone Gregor (Ghost Hound), turned to stone Malagath Finbaros (Level 3 Elf) Willow the Wisp (Level 3 Illusionist) The party quickly returned with an assortment of treasure, the body of a metallic bull-like monster, and two stone statues with a striking resemblan

Here is a illustration of a Red Hive member tabling in the market of the Brothers from the Session #47 based out of the Burning Witch made by PakPak's player Rob A. I have to say, it is shockingly close to how Red Hive drones look in my imagination.  

During their last delve into 'The Complex', the Dragon Slayers of the Drinking Crow encountered strange doubles of themselves within the the dungeon depths. Bors Redbeard shared a recounting of his dream and the encounter with these duplicates with the Beholder Phasmo after a shared expedition to recover the missing adventurers Riverborn Scamandros and Crambo. The description of the encounter and the appearance of the orb the dwarf showed to Phasmo peaked the magic-user's interest as it all reminded him of tales he once read while studying the Mirror Tongue. A reoccurring element in several tales involve beings from the other side of the mirror using stealing a piece of a being from this world and combining it with a strange reflective orb to create crude mirror versions of the being from this side of the mirror. In a dilapidated old terraced house overlooking the untouched corpse of trees that serves as the bridge between Ur-Dun and the Twilight Shores, the duelist Wolfgang has set up a school dedicated to the art of sword fighting-- The Wolves Den. The ruffian struggled to obtain the proper licensing to establish the institution. If not for the favor of one Sir Jerimue of Blackleaf Lodge, Wolfgang would have proven unsuccessful. Sir Jerimue's ward, Lady Elyn Hiley, had been impressed by a demonstration of arms Wolfgang had arranged early in the duelist's time in Orm. When the small talk around Blackleaf Lodge brought news that the swordsman behind the exhibition, now in possession of a blazing magic sword, sought to obtain property to establish a school detected to the art of the sword; Elyn persuaded Sir Jerimue to intercede upon Wolfgang's behalf. A group of Burning Witch regulars sat around the tavern's common table swapping tales of recent disparate excursions into the nearby underworld known as 'The Complex'. Nearby listeners hear mention of minor excursions into a giant cavern level, possible merchant caravans to a city through a portal, and encounters with strange elves that talked about ships that moved between planes. While talk of ventures towards places beyond Orm were discussed in passing, the following group decided to pay a visit to the market of the Brothers to pick up the latest scuttlebutt around the dungeon: Betina (Level 3 Fighter) Palla (Level 0 Amazon hireling) Glow Pit (Level 1 Vat Spawn) Journeyman Crannoc (Level 4 Magic-User) Armunn Drum (Level 1 Cleric of the Watch) PakPak (Level 4 Kobold) Wolfgang (Level 3 Duelist) The group returned, some covered in bites and scratches, with little treasure to show for their troubles. The group went to Golden Googles before returning to the Witch . Glow Pit

 Crambo and Scamandros returned from the depths of the underworld, the adventurers of the Burning Witch had turned their attentions back to the most classical of pursuits-- treasure! The bard Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvoiller, inspired by plans he had been dreaming of late, convinced the following party to join him in a raid on the Imperial Mother's Research Library: Betina (Level 2 Fighter) Geoph (Level 1 Gnome hireling) Dogmouth (Level 3 Thief) Smokey Proag (Level 2 Halfling hireling) Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvollier (Level 5 Bard) DT (faithful dungeon terrier) Forest (faithful ghost hound) Freedom (Sapient Cat) Tome Berry (Level 1 "Magic-User" hireling) The party returned, with six porters, carrying 60 lbs. of books from the library form their spoils. Fancy was missing a butt cheek while most of the group were looking a little singed.  Fresh off of their delve just the night before, Drinking Crow regulars Bors Redbeard were seen wearily making their way past the Monument of the Old Gods and into the Burning Witch . A party was being gathered to rescue the magic-users Crambo and Riverborn Scamandros. The fate of the pair, l ast seen in the clutches the Imperial Mother , was unknown but the bard Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvollier painted a very worrisome picture. Copra and Scamandros' apprentice Kiddo were there to inform the rescue party on the details of the last moments Crambo and Scamandros were seen before their compatriots retreated. As the following party left to free the magic-using pair, grumbling could be heard of begrudgingly trying to treat with the sorcerer king Valtropis near the 'Pool of Life' on Level 2: Bors Redbeard (Level 4 Dwarf) Copra Kaan (Level 4 Vat Spawn) Frim Frimerson (Level 2 Fighter) Journeyman Crannoc (Level 4 Magic-User) Phasmo (Level 3 Magic-User) The group, even though they set o

 Several members of the adventuring group out of the Drinking Crow (sometimes called Dragon Slayers) look rattled as the sat around their usual table in the tavern. The disturbing events of this year's Mischief Night had clearly left their mark. Bors Redbeard had a very different, but just as memorable, experience than the rest of his compatriots that night. The dwarfin adventurer recounted the vision he experienced. The analysis of the experience seemed to hover around the the waters that flowed up the Pit in 'The Complex' and the black grass outside the beachside entrance to the underworld. Once again, the vat spawn adventurer Copra Kaan made his way from the harbor and through the square where the Monument of the Gods stood to walk into the Burning Witch. Another adventure was afoot and the gathering party was looking for members. The discussion centered around delving back down to Level 3. The plan settled upon using the western elevator to explore uncharted northern sections of that level of 'The Complex'. Bors Redbeard having previously made several spiritual exercises, had a vision when he successfully made his Save vs Spells on Mischief Night. The following vision, per the request of Bors' player Shahnawaz, has been relayed to other PCs by the dwarf: The great room of the Drinking Crow dims. The common table before Bors Redbeard remains bright and warm. Those that are joined around it are his comrades and brothers. Later, Bors will reflect on how those gathered weren't his fellow Dragon Slayers or his siblings Lefty and Whiskers yet he felt the warmth and safety of family while among them. They all worked towards shaping the space beyond their feast. The space in the darkness. As they drank and ate, the table was alive and merry. Bors, though, felt something weighing in the back of his mind. There is something they had forgotten.   The hill dwarf next to him turns to speak.  Hey everyone! Just a little update here. I am going to be taking a break from running for the week. Tied to that, I am going to suspend taking downtime actions for the week as the fallout over the events of Mischief Night plays out (people need bailing out of jail, bodies need to be buried, folks have to pull themselves together after being traumatized by horrid visions, etc.). I am not going to lie that while the events of Mischief Night have long been in the making (they were going to originally play out over the tournament that never happened), that they can give me a much needed breather is definitely an added bonus. I know this break happens at a bit of an inopportune time with Scamandros and Crambo's fates being left in the hands  That said, I have a list of items I hope to get caught up on this week if possible.
