Burning Witch Adventurers Session #62- The Rescue of Ruaiat and Aerual

Image
This a medusa the party met as drawn by PakPak's player Rob A. Don't worry, she didn't make it out of the session alive. After Betina, Dogmouth, and Scamandros' last delve, they had brought a quartet of Lunar Elves to Orm to see what life on the surface was like. The quartet were Kerdrim Sarya, Taar Zandro, Kitiar Naevys, and Kiniar Ruvan. Try as they might, Dogmouth and Scamandros met with little luck in befriending these visitors. Betina, though, faired better. The fighter, though, harbored a secret that weighed heavy on the heart. After her adventuring fellows depart, she decided to  share with her new associates  her  terrible role  in the robbing of their kin Ruaiat and Aerual. Needless to say, the elves were not pleased. Still, they decided to give Betina a chance to make amends. Was it her honesty? Was it something of her character that was revealed in the days long conversations she had with them about philosophy and metaphysics? These elves were even more stran

Downtime- The Interrogation of the Other Known As No Legs

The following statement was added to the records of the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun by the Librarian Valtropis covering the event around Phasmo's (with Scamndros' aid) questioning of a prisoner: When Wolfgang, PakPak, Hate Pit, and Phasmo returned from their last expedition into 'The Complex', they brought back with them two prisoners. One, seemingly PakPak's deceased wife L'dy Meggee. The other was a spitting image for the vat born adventurer known as 'No Leg' (though, free of the injuries to his legs form an adventuring party and strange trap in 'The Complex'). Phasmo wanted to keep them at the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun unguard constant guard for he was certain the pair were in his words, "powerful demonic mirror doppelgangers". L'dy Meggee was to be kept in one of her widower's jars as she was in a shrunken hob form. Phasmo took the utmost care in sealing the heavy jar; leaving only pinprick holes in the lid for her to breath

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #61-

In a dark corner of the Burning Witch, the duelist Wolfgang and PakPak the kobold shared their recent tales of woe with a pair of fellow Burning Witch regulars/Complex explorers. Both of the listeners were keen to join in solving pair's troubles but PakPak insisted he was not yet ready for a potentially long visit to the Twilight Shores. Similarly, Wolfgang had yet to figure out his next move in. retaking the Wolves Den. Conversation turned to the seven valuable orbs left levitating above pedestals on Level 3. The following party left towards the direction of the cliff-face entrance to the Complex with the intention of trying to sunder one of the orbs free: Hate Pit (Level 4 Vat Spawn) PakPak (Level 4 Kobold) Phasmo (Level 4 Magic-User) Lirazil (Level 1 Elf hireling) Wolfgang (Level 3 Duelist) The group returned with two prisoners and Wolfgang severely injured. The prisoners appeared to be deceased adventurers: the vat spawn No Legs and PakPak's hob wife L'dy Meggee (who w

Burning Witch Session #60- A Portal to New Worlds

Ever since their last expedition into 'The Complex', Betina and Dogmouth have been itching to try to activate a portal to another plane. The magician Scamandros and the gnome hero GaWoosh both seemed captivated by the wild vision that the robber experienced through his psychometry of a dusty, orange-red realm. Day of the planned expedition, only Betina, Dogmouth, and Scamandros made the agreed upon meet up at the Burning Witch . GaWoosh had lost track of time rambling around the hills near his home. When he made it to the Burning Witch, the following group had already left to try to activate the portal on Level 3: Betina (Level 3 Fighter) Yeoman Klang (Level 1 Thief hireling) Dogmouth (Level 3 Thief) Sunya Strong (Level 1 Fighter hireling) Riverborn Scamandros (Level 4 Magic-User) Kiddo (Level 3 Magic-User retainer) The group returned, only hours later, after an unsuccessful attempt. Yeoman Klang suffered a gnarly cut and his lips were stained with the dark juice of the black

The Principality of Kouz

Image
Principality of Kouz (Hex #0207) West of Orm, the city-state called Kouz surrounds the mouth of the Rusted River as it feeds into the Cerulean Sea. The settlement is ruled by a lineage of vat-created Prince Regents. Upon death of the Prince or the centennial memory reset faced by creatures of the vat (followed by banishment), a new Prince is created in the Principality's singular functioning vat. Since the installation of the Princes after the defeat of the Sorcerer Kings that once ruled over Ur-Dun, Kouz has flourished into a hub of trade and home of the performing arts. This renaissance had been shared by its sister city-state, Barbasso, until unrest right after the Cerulean War saw that settlement exile its noble class and fall under the increasing authoritarian of its overlord, the Faceless One.  Beyond the cliffs of Kouz, the beginnings of red grasslands of the Sunset Praire stretch north and west. The depression cut by the Rusted River over the aeons leaves Kouz situated to

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #59- The Moon-Faced Bandit Strikes Again!

Image
The rogue Wolfgang had spent his time since returning to the mortal world trying to gather intelligence on the members of the Rashers, a clan of halflings that ran the fights in Orm. They had set up shop in Wolfgang's dueling school, the Wolves Den , claiming to be managing affairs while Wolfgang was absent. Wolfgang's pupil Lady Evlyn Hiley was also being held hostage by the gang. After greasing a few palms and staking out his old school, the duelist had acquired some decent intelligence on the Rasher's current activities. It looked like the Wolves Den was under the stewardship of the lieutenant Meriweather "Took" Rasher while the group's headman, Reward Rasher, had not been seen around town. It also looked like that, at night, most of the gang gathered at the Wolves Den for regular ragers well into the night. Wolfgang put out the call for help to adventurers from the Burning Witch that had studied at the Wolves Den as well as those that had aided against t

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #58- The Vault of Eyes

Image
Much of the adventuring clientele of the Burning Witch have been captivated by the recent revelations from a series of dramatic dungeon delves but Riverborn Scamandros remained steadfast to his previous interests: securing a steady supply of psylirium from the Great Cavern and a trade of Riverwine's wares for supplies from the brewers in the market of the Brothers. As other adventurers plot first steps towards new realms or how to reclaim old property, the Magician was able to win over crew to the potential rewards of pure exploration. The following party headed south across the square of the Monument of the Old Gods towards the cliff-face entrance of 'The Complex', lugging a crate of wines: Abraxis (Level 4 Fighting Mutant) Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvollier (Level 5 Bard) Peaches (Level 2 Thief) DT (dungeon terrier) Forrest (ghost hound) Palla (Level 0 Amazon hireling) GaWoosh (Level 4 Gome) Scamandros (Level 4 Magic-User) Kiddo (Level  Thea Noir (Level 4 Assassin)  The party r
