Burning Witch Session #60- A Portal to New Worlds
Ever since their last expedition into 'The Complex', Betina and Dogmouth have been itching to try to activate a portal to another plane. The magician Scamandros and the gnome hero GaWoosh both seemed captivated by the wild vision that the robber experienced through his psychometry of a dusty, orange-red realm. Day of the planned expedition, only Betina, Dogmouth, and Scamandros made the agreed upon meet up at the Burning Witch. GaWoosh had lost track of time rambling around the hills near his home. When he made it to the Burning Witch, the following group had already left to try to activate the portal on Level 3:
- Betina (Level 3 Fighter)
- Yeoman Klang (Level 1 Thief hireling)
- Dogmouth (Level 3 Thief)
- Sunya Strong (Level 1 Fighter hireling)
- Riverborn Scamandros (Level 4 Magic-User)
- Kiddo (Level 3 Magic-User retainer)
The group returned, only hours later, after an unsuccessful attempt. Yeoman Klang suffered a gnarly cut and his lips were stained with the dark juice of the black fruit. Dogmouth was covered in blood from a blow to the temple. This group, though, were not alone. Four elves with a pale blue complexion and odd accents accompanied them. Drinks were shared and the adventuring trio seemed to try to charm the elves to their friendship. Only Betina seemed to succeed. Dogmouth's treasure-hungry mindset proved off putting to the quartet of strangers. Scamandros' Transcendental Congress of the Aureate Precepts informed world view seemed to generate too dry and analytical of conversation for them.
Yeoman Klang wandered off with the rifle he acquired from the adventurers surplus to ponder his experience as he drank. Once again, the hireling had come close to death's door on an expedition down in 'The Complex'. This time, he had charged ahead and fired a deafening shot from his new weapon. His skillful shot had landed in the wrist of his gorilla folk enemy, bringing them to their death from bleeding out minutes later. In its final moments, the dying ape person ran through Klang with the bayonet at the end of their weapon. Was it the leadership of his employers that brought him such a fate? Could it had been Klang's rashness that lead to his near death experience? Klang seemed uncertain. At the end of the day, his employer brought him back out alive and have managed to avoid a much grizzlier combat at the mouth of the gate. He lived to someday steal on of of those orbs from that diorama of the planes near this world yet. The thief ended up dropping some hallucinogens with some of the tuffs from the Burning Witch. Regretfully, the trip that followed was a harrowing one that did nothing to help him forget his trials. From time to time, Klang would get flashbacks to this bad experience.
