Image
The second full moon of the new year approaches and with it comes... the Resplendent Fête . It is true that the buildings of Orm are adorned with decorations, its streets turned into festival halls and packed with performers, its citizens costumed, and its skies filled with the explosions and smoke of fireworks. Before we turn our eyes and ears there, though, let us kept up some other news around Orm... It has been exciting start to the new year for the adventuring population of Orm. New hirelings are tickling in from realms both far and surprisingly close. Once 111th Company head Whiskers Redbeard gets their paper work squared away, a new generation of hired help will be eager to aid in the endeavors of Orm's adventuring community! Here are a just a few of the new recruits: Dwarven chef Doogan by Dogmouth's player Sam PakPak's player Rob A. gives us former Red Hive member Drone 7 Abraxis' player Sean offers up the fey being known as "Gorky" Finally, GaWoosh&#

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #57- Some Solid Dungeoneering

Image
The Robber (and criminal wanted by the Imperial Mother) Dogmouth had the Burning Witch hanging on every word of his tale of the thief's ill met attempt at completely the looting of the Basalt Mausoleum . Betina, eager to return the Complex, offered to back him up on another attempt. Some recent arrivals, brought by tales of the mysterious underworld called 'The Complex', displayed a bit of interest in Dogmouth's score. It was, however, a pair of old dungeoneering hands that came through in the end: PakPak and Journeyman Crannoc. From PakPak memories of the first trip to the Mausoleum and Dogmouth's of the second, Crannoc arranged two things on their advise. The first, a scroll of dispel magic, Crannoc traded for a favor to a ranking wizard in the Transcendental Congress of the Aureate Precepts. The other as a lantern that Crannoc cast Continual Darkness on. Once everything was prepared, the following party set out: Betina (Level 3 Fighter) Yeoman Klang (Level 1 Th

Burning Witch Adventure Hooks

Image
Currently, the adventurers from the Burning Witch have five potential adventure hooks in front of them. Most of them require me to build them out a little before they are pursued. If you all could take a gander and let me know either in the comments or in the Burning Witch channel on Discord which ones you are all most interested in pursuing, it would be a great help. Listed below are the threads stumbled upon from recent adventures: 1. Treasure Map- GaWoosh, Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvollier, Journeyman Crannoc, and Phasmo have a treasure map that leads to a cache worth 18,000gp that they retrieved from the backpack of a skeleton their last delve . The quartet may be protective of allowing others to join this adventure. 2. Back to the Cave Elves of the Twilight Shores- PakPak and Wolfgang want to return to the liar of the cave elves over in the Twilight Shore to recover the magical weapons stolen from them. 3. Soot Hill Road Trip- Glow Pit agreed to round up a party to travel north to

Frimer Frimson and the Slithering Devil HIde

Image
The whole goal of recent trips to the Twilight Shores was for PakPak and Hate Pit to locate a legendary leather worker who had been missing for 200 years. Kept hostage in the cells of the cave elves, PakPak finally has located the leather worker (and Frim Frimerson's ancestor)-- Frimer Frimson. With that step now achieved, how are the pair of PakPak and Hate Pit going to turn this: Into this: Based on the steps covered in the Splendid Item downtime activity created by Phasmo's player Ben L., hear are the steps PakPak and Hate Pit need to take have Frimer craft their armor for them. They each must pay Frimer 1000gp to have their armor crafted. Next they each must spend a non-concurrent downtime (i.e. one week) personally working with Frimer to create their armor. When finished, the players for PakPak and Hate Pit must each name their new set of armor and describe it. As Ben says, " Others will notice the item and speak about it. It will become an object of envy, desire, an

Burning Witch Adventurers Sessions #s 52, 54, and 56- Lost in the Twilight Shores

Image
A favorite storied adventure at the common tables of the Burning Witch since the end of last year has been a PakPak and Hate-led excursion to the nearby fey realm known the Twilight Shores . From the descriptions of the unearthly vibrant eternal sunset to the wonders of the bustling fairy market to the creepy campfire turn of the party's encounter of a strange undead fiend somehow composed of a swarm of crows all fire the imagination of the tavern's dungeon delving clientele. So, when PakPak said that he planned a return to those elfin lands as the first adventure of the new year to set out from the Witch, he found it easy to gather a group. At twilight and at the Wolves Den the follow party congregated in order to travel elf-held lands in aid of PakPak's quest to find a leather work of mythic skill lost some 200 years past:  Abraxis (Level 3 Fighting-Mutant) Frim Frimmerson (Level 2 Fighter) No Legs (Level 1 Vat Spawn) Glow Pit (Level 1 Vat Spawn assistant) PakPak (Leve

Dragon Slayers of the Drinking Crow Session #29- The Heist

A day after the Dragon Slayers returned from 'The Complex' covered in blood and soot, several members of the group were seen reconvening at the Drinking Crow after briefly stopping by Sweet Dreams . Among their number included Bors Redbeard, who had spent recent months working behind the scenes at the Crow. The party lingered as they helped Dwerleiro drown his trauma from the last session as one of their number kept their eyes peeled for the passing of a party from the Burning Witch towards the beach-side entrance to 'The Complex'. Upon sight of the adventurers from the Burning Witch , a signal was given. Then, member by member they delivered some excuse to pardon themselves from the table for a moment leaving, when things were all said and done, Dwerleiro drinking by his lonesome. What looked like an adventuring party were seen meeting up at the cart purchased by Copra Kaan. The cart was loaded with several logs, a tarp, a funerial shroud, and several block & tack

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #55- Jail Break!

Two of the librarians of The Athenaeum of the Dying Sun , Journeyman Crannoc and Phasmo, shared a message they had received with the fellow adventurers of the Burning Witch -- Valtropis wants to meet. When Crannoc and Riverborn Scamandros met with the self-proclaimed Sorcerer-King to put an end to the geas plaguing three of the Athensaeum founders along with Frim Frimerson and Avreml Oofnik, they had also negotiated an alliance gaining the adventurers of Orm access to the 'Pool of Life' in exchange working in common cause against the Imperial Mother. After regular use of the Pool by several adventurers, Valtropis had called for a meeting of forces tied to a plan to free "prisoners" of the Imperial Mother. Although all were weary of Valtropis' aims, a couple of other adventurers agreed to join the two magic-users in at least making the meeting. As the party made their way towards the cliff-face entrance to 'The Complex', they spotted an observer from the

Dragon Slayers of the Drinking Crow- Session #28- Casing the Joint

Malagath Finbaros emerged from two weeks from the arcane work of crafting a new spell. The product of such work--a fey hex of the primary level that reduces or enlarges the size of a creature or object--was dubbed "Biggie Smalls" by the vat born Copra Kaan to Malagath's objections. In the time it took for Malagath to research the new spell, his fellow Dragon Slayers were up to a variety of tasks. Petra P., now wearing a coat covered in sequence and a top hat, worked with the elephant she seemed to be able to bring to life by twisting one of the tusks on the statue she now possessed. Willow the Wisp traveled off to study under her mentor to master a new illusionist spell- Hypnotic Pattern! Copra was seen palling around Orm with the white-robed formerer Complex-Dweller Dwerleiro as they performed all matter of thrilling challenges to test Copra's recently acquired monster parts. When not with the half-elfin researcher, Copra was about town acquiring an odd assortment o

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #53- FUBAR *UPDATED*

GaWoosh the gnome desired to return to the Basalt Mausoleum on Level 3 of 'The Compex.' His tales the riches pulled from one of the sarcophagi reeled a few other adventurers from the Burning Witch  into a plan to return to the Mausoleum. Just as the party was preparing to launch their expedition, a rookie member remembered he had some pressing business to attend to. Riverborn Scamandros, seeing the opening, offered to join. He promised to meet up with the group as soon as he collected his equipment and his apprentice from the Athenaeum . As the following party left, headed north towards the ruin of Orm-of-Old, it seemed apparent to on lookers that while GaWoosh remember the treasure collected from the Basalt Mausoleum clearly, his recollection of its dangers were hazier...: Dogmouth (Level 3 Thief) Sonja Strong (Level 1 Fighter hireling) GaWoosh (Level 3 Gnome) Tome Berry (Level 1 "magic-user" hireling), rendered witless Scamandros (Level 4 Magic-User) Kiddo (Level
