Burning Witch Adventurers Session #48- The Rescue of Margrave Quinus

Image
Hex #0809 During a recent excursion  into the Complex, PakPak created some excitement for returning to Sourwood Marsh with talks of stuck interplanar ships and theories of its connections to recent unusual events. This especially rekindled a desire on the part of the Beholder Phasmo to return to the mysteries of the swamp land. While the magic-user was present in the first investigatory expedition into the marshlands west of Orm, he was not part of the group that discovered the ship trapped in a cave. A group comprising of members of previous expeditions into Sourwood along with a few pair of eyes fresh to Sourwood Marsh began to form around the ideas of trying to collect the reward for rescue the Margrave Quinus and slaying the mysterious monster roaming the swamp while they looked for this strange ship. The following party set out for the fishing village of Kêm  (Point #2 in Hex #0809) talking about renting a boat from 'Duber': Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvollier (Level 5 ...

This week, though, the enterprising kobold PakPak decided to finally pull together a team to journey out into Sourwood Marsh to attempt the question. Fellow Adventurers Wanted

PakPak,  the kobold jar seller,   wants YOU to join him hunting Oloth El'gg  Ssusson You all know that charming adventurer. Well, we will say that his curiosity is piqued by this quest request by the elfin power in the area. PakPak claims to have seen this creature his very self. To have felt its chilling effect. He needs a crew of four to five more adventurers willing to stick their necks out searching Sourwood Marsh for this creature of terror. The question isn't does this treasure seeking kobold have a lead on where to stalk this monstrosity? He decidedly does. The question is are you brave enough to ride around in a boat across swampland as you methodically search for the prize while fending off the marsh's denizens. Have you talked to Kiddo? That newly-minted magic-user has a story or two to tell about those boggins at dwell in those waters. Journeyman Crannoc, a Beholder in the Transcendental Congress of the Aureate Precepts, has bee...

Burning Witch Adventurers Session #13- Investigating in Sourwood

Image
I will add a few more elements to this post over the next week so it will be best to check back but here is the summary of Thursday night's session: A party met around a table in the Burning Witch, planning a different kind of mission, Rather than delving into "The Complex", Journeyman Crannoc was putting a group together deputized by the steward of the Impossible Fortress himself: Merdinus. The dwarven longbeard's interest has been peaked by recent reports of strange happenings out along the western edge of Sourwood Marsh. He dispatched his acquaintance Crannoc to lead a contingent in a preliminary investigation centered around the recently recovered body of a halfling named Johan Bitterleaf. He hoped that some connection between Bitterleaf's death and the strange occurrences would lead the castellan of  the Impossible Fortress to free up resources to explorer the matter further. The party, including a healthy contingent of hirelings and a marsh-friendly b...

Kêm

Image
Situated to the northeast of Orm, the crannog known as Kêm juts out from the rocky foot of the Gloaming Hills and over the marshland along the east bank of the River Sarn. Home to only about 23 souls, the settlement of fisherman and weavers is not as quiet as its peers in Ur-Dan. The hamlet's proximity to the old imperial road that runs through Sourwood allows Kêm to support of very modest inn and along with it-- visitors. As a result, the locals enjoy gabbing about all sorts of gossip from around Orm. A faded painting of a white pelecanidae adorns the inn, dubbed the Prattling Pelican , honoring a former leader of Kêm: a talking waterbird. Merchants in Orm who have had to travel to Kêm say: Those private rooms at the Pelican may look cramped but the 4sp per night is worth it if you can snag one of the two of them. Otherwise, you are shelling out 15 cp a night to sleep next to who knows who in the common room. And pray that local halfling vagrant, 'Oothless 'Omby, h...
