Nonmagical Research- Issues Surrounding the Use of the 'Pool of Life'

Image
After Journeyman Crannoc's initial research into the current aliment that befell the Midnight Marauder Carabas, the Magician decided to follow some leads in the reports of Dependable Custodian Cushala. The reference sub-report delves into issues with the substance in the pool itself. Cushala discusses how the C.I. Balance is worse than in the original Vat. Rather than the potential mutations that the original Vat could bring, this new Level 2 Vat causes in increase on the Chaos Index on beings placed into these Vats. As seen in the original report, this leads to a 1-in-5 chance of alterations in the mind of the being exposed to the Vat. This advancement on the Chaos Index appears to cause the mind to become chaotic in its functioning causing the expose to not be able to function normally. It appears that those that are not overcome in their first exposure suffer from a cumulative build up of chaos energies that make the aforementioned mental state more and more likely with each ex

Institutions of Orm- The Container

The Container  Part group-home, part make-shift library - the Container opens its doors to any Vat Spawn that finds themselves in need of support and any information that interests them. Some (but not all) Vat Spawn choose to offer their unique skills to adventures in the Complex in exchange for information or items relevant to their particular interests.  Currently the Container is home to: Hate PIt -  (skills include: taking on the properties of any surface temporarily, having hallucinogenic (but +1 WIS modifying) spit. They also have venomous snake fangs.) Dragon Slayer of the Drinking Crow Session #27- In the Reign of Miracles

Image
The elfin adventurer Petra P. sat in the Drinking Crow , fiddling with a strange 1' tall statuette of an elephant, as she waited for the other adventurers that currently comprised the crew known as the Dragon Slayers. As the party gathered, the air was a buzz with their favorite topic of late: their desperate need for t-r-e-a-s-u-r-e. After examining the maps form their latest delve along with their copy of the maps from the Burning Witch ,  the group seemed to come to a consensus of exploring a door-lined corridor south of the NW elevator on Level 3. The following party departed north, towards the ruins of Orm-of-Old: Copra Kaan (Level 5 Vat Spawn) Crambo (Level 1 Magic-User) Theela Ruul (Level 0 Amazon Exile hireling) Malagath Finbaros (Level 3 Elf) Petra P. (Level 1 Elf) Willow the Wisp (Level 3 Illusionist) The party returned exhausted but unscathed. They seemed to be without new spoils but possessed an excitement about plans they discussed in hushed tones. A vision board crea

Missing Adventurers, Ill Omens, And The Return of Bartamus Fludge in the Fortnightly News

Image
The new year's festivities have come and gone. Here is what the people of Orm are talking about this fortnite as they look to the new year: Smokey Proag has returned from 'The Complex' is dire news . The Midnight Marauders hired four of the top members of the 111th Company ( Ur-Kel , Geoph , Lirazil , and Smokey herself) and attempted to wrestle control of the 'Pool of Life' from the forces of Valtropis . The attack started out as a success with the force defeating a carcass crawler guardian and routing several of Valtropis' forces. It was in room containing the 'Pool of Life' that things went sour. The forces were locked in a bottle neck at the southern entrance when a crossbow bolt killed Geoph as he tried to cast an illusion. The Vat Spawn guards then pulled back and Valtropis unleashed the power of a strange wand causing the Marauders forces to break in fear. Smokey seems to be the only one who was not over come. As Smokey made her retreat, she

What Will Happen In This New Year In The----Twilight Age!?!

Image
A regular feature of this Twilight Age campaign are the (semi)regular fortnightly news posts . As at least some of you know, a portion of this news is a product of random event tables.  For the new year, I wanted to give all of the players a chance to suggest a campaign event that I can add to the tables I (usually) roll on every two weeks. Post in the comments or on the Discord your suggestions and, barring events I think are too uneven in their hand, I will compile them into a table to be rolled on every two weeks!

Dragon Slayers of the Drinking Crow Session #26- Ants and Elephants

Early in the new year, a strange and small being was seen stumbling into the Drinking Crow. The small goblin-like creature approached the table where the adventurers known as the Dragon Slayers were plotting the first delve into the underworld dungeon know to Orm's adventuring community as "The Complex" and introduced himself as the Neophyte in the Transcendental Congress of the Aureate Precepts called Crambo. The magic-user could be overheard recounting some sort of carousing mishap that left a witch insulted and Crambo polymorphed into his current diminutive size. The transformation didn't seem to reduce Crambo's appetite for treasure as he easily signed on to join the following party return to the unexplored northeastern portion of Level 3 of "The Complex" on a hunt to loot: Copra Kaan (Level 5 Vat Spawn) Crambo (Level 1 Magic-User) Axel (Level 0 Man-At-Arms hireling) Malagath Finbaros (Level 3 Elf) Petra P. (Level 1 Elf) Palla (Level 0 Amazon hirelin

Image
The Twilight Age gasps on as another journey around the bloated red sun has begun without the dying star filtering out. While tale of the last adventuring expedition of that now passed year waits to be told, the adventuring community of Orm sorts through some year end business. Several among the adventurers that have moved to Orm in the past year have contributed to the city-state by investing in one of its existing institutions and starting several others. Here is the returns and losses on those investments along with what tax they are required to pay to the Impossible Fortress: Few have heard of Riverborn Scamandros ' new concern: Riverwine . The Magician claims Yellow Fever and capture by the Imperial Mother held up his plans of selling some of the finest libations in Orm. Regardless of the reasons, the project has already devalued by 50gp sinking even further away from being considered inconsequential among the residents of Orm. As a tax , Riverwine must donate wine to Orm&

Dragon Slayers of the Drinking Crow Session #25- Revenge

Image
The magic-user Crambo, usually an adventurer based out of the Burning Witch  , had wandered over the Drinking Crow to see what the adventurers known as the Dragon Slayers were plotting. Around the common table of the Crow , the gathered adventurers could be overheard talking about needing a decent treasure haul but this was always a topic of conversation. The discussion when it turned towards revenge on the gargoyles guarding the elevator on Level 3, the group grew more lively. Somewhere, someone mentioned the idea that maybe they could capture one to work towards there "debt". This seem to be of some appeal to the mysterious being in white robes who had recently become a hanger-on of the Dragon Slayer's retinue-- Dwerleiro. The group discussed hiring on the vat spawn Ur-Kel to add addition magical arms to their impending conflict with the gargoyles. As the following party left towards the beach, it was noted by Drinking Crow  regulars that Crambo seemed to possess a fam
