Burning Witch Adventurers Session #89- Return of the Elfin Princess

A Cold Moon eclipse had visited the night skies above Ur-Dun. With it came the powerful potential for change. Several of Orm's adventurers had locked themselves away to uncover some new element of their magical craft. Two among them were Journeyman Crannoc and Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvollier. In their breaks from their respective work, they would chew over one final adventure for the year with their fellows over at the Burning Witch or among the stacks of the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun. Soon, most of Orm would shut down for the Winter Solstice. The Ormens would partake in ancient ceremony to coax the Sun to not recline in final rest but shine its light upon this world for another year. Meanwhile, members of the Transcendental Congress of the Aureate Precepts would venture off to the Halls of the Brilliant Assembly to present their magical research and obtuse debate about the minutia of the Precepts that bind their order.

Two topics of plunder rose to the top of the conversation for this calendar's ultimate expedition: collecting the planetoid-like orbs from the Level 3 diorama and the mysterious contents of the vault discovered in the depths of the Hanging Spire. On the day of the expedition, only four of the six planners of the mission could make it. Bludoon was swamped at his market food stall while Maevra Lun was experiencing a flare up of her infection. As a result, the following party were seen debating the finer points of their plans on the way into the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun and its collection to the Great Cavern:

  • Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvollier (Level 6 Bard)
    • Peaches (Level 4 Thief)
    • DT (dog terrier)
    • Rza (ghost dog)
    • Freedom (sapient cat)
    • Ferris (Level 1 Living Harness hireling)
  • Journeyman Crannoc (Level 5 Magic-User)
    • Spike and the dog with no name (wardogs)
  • Kiddo (Level 3 Magic-User)
  • Phasmo (Level 4 Magic-User)
    • Lirazil (Level 2 Elf)

They returned to the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun with only one of the orbs they had schemed to collect in their possession. Instead of a greater treasure haul, they had with them a fraile being of a most unusual character. Rumor has it that this rescuee, an elfin princess of some sort, is convalescing at the Athenaeum as she recovers from a millennium confined to the Imperial Mother's dungeons. Visitors to the Athenaeum report seeing a woman that most extraordinary description. One half of her countenance the most aged of crones while the other half the fairest of maidens with unearthly deep blue-purple hair that sparkles like a field of stars.
I haven't really found an image that suits the Princess of the Eventide nor the Imperial Mother. My early drawing of the Imperial Mother form 2011 is much to Norse in design. This image from a movie I don't like very much at least kind of contains the energy of what I imagine.
