Burning Witch Adventurers Session #88- The Frieze of the Seven Archons of Law

Kiddo's player Cullen shared this image during the session the Frieze of the Seven Archons was discovered. How could I not let the magnificence of its design override my more Greek-inspired conception of the wonder the party had discovered?

On a previous delve into the Great Cavern below the complex, a party of adventurers based out of the Burning Witch discovered a magnificent work of holy art: The Frieze of the Seven Archons of Law. One of the party members, Bludoon, was able to surmise from his observations from his time cooking for some dwarven construction teams that it would take a skilled construction team under the guidance of a seasoned engineer to pull off the transportation of the Frieze to the surface. Another of the group's number, the bard Fancy, met with his patron the Duke Clavis of Far Anterra about sponsoring such an expedition upon the parry's return to Orm.

It took Duke Clavis a but of time to assemble a crew for such an unusual project. It was difficult to find skilled specialists willing to risk the dangers of the Great Cavern. The team he did find require the adventurers to agree to paying out a 100gp each to the families of any member that fell while executing the removal of the Frieze.

It was early on a cold late fall morning that a party assembled outside of the Burning Witch to finally recover the holy art instillation for it to be added to the Duke's collection. The following party lead the construction team down to the Iron Door of the Rani:

  • Bludoon (Level 2 Dwarf)
    • Doogan (Level 3 Dwarf hireling)
  • Fancy Jean-Yves Beauvollier (Level 6 Bard)
    • Peaches (Level 4 Thief retainer)
    • Freedom (sapient cat)
    • DT (dungeon terrier)
    • Sunya Strong (Level 2 Fighter hireling)
    • Rza (ghost hound)
  • Journeyman Crannoc (Level 5 Magic-User)
    • Spike and the dog with no name (wardogs)
  • Kiddo (Level 3 Magic-User)
When the expedition was seen again at the Iron Door of the Rani, every member of the group was surprisingly still alive, The group, though, was quite shaken. Of all of the tales the construction crew members recounted in Orm's watering holes, the one that stretched listener's seems of disbelief the most the rising of a being of pure stone from the very surface of the Great Cavern. Reportedly, this 30 ft. monstrosity furiously pursued the party as they made their way along the Great Cavern's central lake towards the elevator that rests along its shores. The party's resources where tax has they threw everything they had as evaded colossal pursuer. A wall of fog cast by Fancy brought the group to the elevator while a web cast by Crannoc bought them the precious moments they needed to file in.

A steep 1000gp tax was paid on the Frieze of the Seven Archons of Law at the Iron Gate. Anyone curious in seeing the breathtaking stonework of the piece of art can make an appointment Duke Clavis' embassy on the edge of Orm.
