Lady Blackmarsh and the Oloth El'gg Ssusson
Tales of Oloth El'gg Sssusson (or the Darkness That Slays the Light) stretch back at least four aeons to when Overlord Zotul entered into treaties with the elfin folk that still definite relationships between the fey realm and Ur-Dan. The elves of the Twilight Shores say that one elfin king, the starchild known as Elexus, plucked from the heavens a dying constellation. Jealous of the domains of his fellow kings as laid out by the sacred treaties, Elexus promised the starving constellation new life through the hunting of his fellow elfin kind. Oloth El'gg Ssusson terrorized the elves until the half-elf hero Yodar defeated it. Now the monster seems to have returned. The word among cautious elfin beings is that the ringing of a bell can keep the creature at momentarily at bay but that an elf can never hide from it. It brings the chill of death with it and fear so strong that it steals all breath.
If Lady Blackmarsh is pressed as to how she is so certain that it is the Oloth El'gg Sssusson that is out in the Friscalating Fens and killed the Margrave, she is poetically cryptic in her response. Her fear seems very real but not even the elves among Orm's adventurers have reached the elevated state to verify if, in fact, "the stars scream its name."
Blackmarsh does, however, clearly restate the terms. If a group slays the beast known as Oloth El'gg Ssusson, they will receive a chalice filled with the fragments of stars that fell when the monster start came down from the heavens along with a strand each of her hair. If they retrieve the body of the Margave Quinus, they each will receive a bottle of their choice from the wines of the Margave's collection. If they achieve both in the same expedition, they are granted the deed to the Margrave's estate (located at the point where the elfin Friscalating Fens meet Sourwood Marsh). They will have right to the lands and all within the manor there but must meet the obligations to the Court of the Twilight Shores that accompany it.
Any further inquiries into the matter will require the use of a downtime activity to perform non-magical research.
