News Around Orm and Beyond

The weather has bounced around in Orm the last 14 days but as well roll into the fortnitely news round up the skies are dark and ready for rain. Here are the top news around town:

The Midnight Marauders ventured into "The Complex" just the day before this latest round up. They returned bearing four chests containing a modest sum of treasure. They also returned three party members lighter. The ranks of the perished included local Cerulean War veteran and hireling Sammo, the party's quartermaster Thom Slauder, and wife to PakPak, L'Dy Megee. The Marauders paid out weregilt to Sammo's family and PakPak. The death of Slauder especially wears on company captain Sir Rolf Van Pattyn. Most of the treasure has been spent to establish a company headquarters but the group did spend a night toasting their fallen comrades and praising Jacq Twigg--The Ghoul Slayer!!!

Speaking of the Midnight Marauders, the company is selling their map (mostly of parts of Level 1 & 2 of the southwestern part of "The Complex") for 320gp. They tout the elevator they found between levels 1 and 2 as something that might make the map appealing to adventurers familiar with the area.

Speaking of toasting the dead, the residents of the Subtle Chateau held a modest funeral and reception for their fellow resident Zhelia Sours. Sours, a long term resident of the flop house, was known to be in excellent health for her age so her fellow tenants where shocked by her quiet passing in the night earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the grime themes continue in the news from lands west of Orm.

Journeyman Crannoc and his party have returned from their investigations on the outskirts of Sourwood Marsh. While Merdinus has publicly been tight lipped about the findings of the group he temporarily deputized, whatever they were proved enough to have the Castilian of the Impossible Fortress mobilize patrols along the borders of the wetlands. Sir Yann Sharp (hot off his successes against the Knights of the Road) and his forces has skirmished with mysterious raiders.

Too bad for the settlement of Eq'Thyll that Sharp's contingent were not further to the southwest. The seaside settlement is rumored to have been razed to the ground. Residents of Orm could see a large pillar of smoke rising in the air to the West just four days past.

As for Orm itself, the population of the city-state are preparing for the Festival of Flowers coming at this upcoming week's end. The common sentiment is that it can't some soon enough. Orm could use a little bright spot and a little romance with the fortnite they've just had.
