The Thieves of Dungeon World
The thieves of Dungeon World all owe their loyalty to the Bone Pickers of Royal Bay. Dungeon World has no borderlands for bandit gangs to raid. It settlement, Topside, has a population only in the hundreds presenting only so many homes to burgle. The abilities to achieve near-impossble climbs, to step with cat-like grace, or to open things fastened tight are best honed in the reclamation projects of the guild known as the Bone Pickers rather than traditional marks of the theft. The guild does not take kindly to the unaffiliated practicing the extraordinary skills they teach their members in secret. Those that attempt to find themselves on the receiving end of Guildmaster Swift's firm judgement. She is has also forbid guild members from maliciously injuring a child in any way.
Members of the Bone Pickers learn the skills of the thief as presented under the optional rule for D6 Thief Skills published in Carcass Crawler #1. In addition, they all begin play being able to speak the cant known as "Picker's Patter". If they possess the ability to read, they also learn the simple signs the guild uses to mark scavenging sites to denote potential scores, ownership, and dangers.
When looking to move non-coin treasures, members of the Bone Pickers can choose to sell items of raw material value (gems, jewelry, removed gold leaf, marble, and the like) using the guild as a middle person. Items sold this way are sold for 80% of their value minus an additional 10% collected by the guild. Selling these items in this way does not require the use of a downtime action.
