The Districts of Topside- The Pitch

The Pitch (Northeast Topside)

Tall buildings with blackened timber frames line the narrow, dark cobble stone streets of the Pitch. Its smoke choked paths are home to what entertainment there is to be found in Topside. Often light on foot traffic during the day, the district comes alive with pleasure seekers and spectators of Dungeon World's many contests.

7. The Forge of the (Dungeon) World

Pressed against the side of Cardinal Hill stretches Topside’s only smithy. It’s large size seems absurd for it houses but a single ironsmith- Brok. The Dungeon World native is a licensed armorer capable of crafting 5 weapons or 3 shields or 1 suit of armor a month. When drinking at the nearby tavern, he is known to fall into sad lamentations about the Splendid Items he used to forge with his dwarven siblings.

8. The Alchemist’s Jug

This halfling-run tavern is the last of Topside’s public drinking establishments. While the taps of the rest of the drinking holes long went dry, the Full-Pint family always seem to have another cask ready to roll up from their cellar. This, combined with regular games of Axe-Jack and Wargbite, make the Jug one of Topside’s main sources of Revelry. The halflings of the Full-Pint brood seem to enjoy the festivities as much as their patrons, leaving most of the work to a harried young woman named Fipya. Her lack of familial relation is easy for any to see by her very unhalfling-like height of 3 1/2” and her long nose.

9. The Onyx Gardens

Just like Dungeon World’s ruler, the realm’s people love a good contest. One would struggle to find better Revelry in than those found in the stands above the pit of the Onyx Gardens. Nothing hints at the truth to the locals’ claims that the pocket dimension used to be larger than the amphitheater's ability to seat a thousand times Topsides current population. Those wanting to spend their time Keeping in Form between adventures can do so by participating in low-stakes exhibition contests of battle or skill. Martial Techniques can be mastered by studying the Garden’s legendary greats. They are bound in contracts of neverending unlife past in the bowels of the arena where normally they prepare the next generation of fighters. Regretfully for those eager to learn at the feet of the legends of the pit, the facilities have been locked and inaccessible for some time. The Garden’s chief custodian, the troll Maggie Muckhands, would be grateful to any adventurers that found the keys she lost down a grate into the dungeons below.

The Entrance to the Obsidian Hall

Officially, the Obsidian Hall is only accessible to adventurers via its neighboring dungeons of the Beryl and Ruby Halls. Unofficially, the whisper network is filled with tales of someone granting access through an off-the-books entrance.
