Burning Witch Sessions #94 & #98: To the Golden Dome

Characters and elements from the sessions drawn by Rob A.

*Dm's Note* In an unusual bit of time keeping, these session take place before Sessions #96 &97. Due to a book keeping error, two NPCs involved in these two session were involved in the Against the Eye of Terror campaign and had to be on the surface when it was conducted.

The tables of the Burning Witch were a buzz with talk of the Great Cavern. The kobold PakPak, the gnome GaWoosh, and the vat spawn Hate Pit had ventured there many times before. They pressed allies old and new to return with them on another delve. Their friend, the mush man Callimonte, longed to return home to the Mushroom Forest and they now the way to lead him home. When the pre-agreed upon hour came, only this trio arrived with there hired hands. The long-retired Sergio Crankersore found himself unable to pull himself form the stacks of the Athenaeum. Wolfgang's vat-created body lay dormant (while who knows what Wolfgang got up to down in the estate of Valtropis). The trio met at the automated stalls in the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun before leading the following party to venture down into the depths of the Great Cavern:
  • GaWoosh (Level 4 Gnome)
    • Shelby (Level 1 Sibling Snail hireling)
  • Hate Pit (Level 4 Vat Spawn)
    • Star Eyes (Level 1 Vat Spawn hireling)
  • PakPak (Level 5 Kobold)
    • Many-Faced Gene (Level 3 Assassin hireling)
It was a rough journey for the party as they traveled to meet Callimonte and lead him back to the Mushroom Forest. While they avoid a run in with a vampiric frog near the inn, GaWoosh lost his Helm of Comprehension in a cavern stream and half of the parties' food spoiled. A tower rising from a stream and a pool formed by a gargoyle fountain were passed in the jungle before the Mushroom Forest was reached.

Arriving there, Callimonte summoned this fellow mycellians. As the party conversed with Callimonte and his fellow mushroom people, they sought out information from them with no avail. They cared little for the goings ons of non-mushroom folk. All they could really get out of them was how much they would appreciate if the golden dome at the eastern edge of the forest would go away.

From here, a recap of Session #98 provided by GaWoosh's player Curtis picks things up:
