Burning Witch Adventurers Session #83 & #85- Lost in the Great Cavern

In quite conversation, a quartet of adventurers discussed a return to the Great Cavern. Their fasciation with this vast section of 'The Complex' just continued to grow with each delve. Their mushroom friend, Callomonte, talked about seeking a "mushroom forest". The group settled on trying to aid their friend as they explored. They recruited a few of the residents of the Container to accompany them before heading off into Orm-of-Old. The following group was seen travelling in the direction of the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun:

  • GaWoosh (Level 4 Gnome)
    • Groove (Level 0 Vat Spawn hireling), deceased
  • Hate Pit (Level 4 Vat Spawn)
  • PaPak (Level 5 Kobold)
  • Wolfgang (Level 4 Duelist)
    • Party (Level 0 Vat Spawn hireling), deceased

It was four weeks before there was any sign of the party. In that time, the ShopShop remained closed and his negotiations with the Dragon Slayers remained unfinished. Glow Pit was left on their own to navigate the growing protests outside the Container. The Rashers inhabiting the Wolves Den revert to their old habit without Wolfgang to redirect their energies towards training and producing high quality fights. Mice and voles regularly appeared before GaWoosh usual seat at the Burning Witch. They would wait patiently as long as they could before they were run off by the barkeep Jakki.

The party that returned was a pale reflection of the one that left. First, it should be noted that neither Groove nor Party survived their first foray into the adventuring life. Their bodies buried in the some south central section of the Great Cavern for Hate Pit is insistent that the Pool of Life would do nothing for them as Vat Spawn are soulless. Outside of the loss of their pair of Vat Spawn assistants, the group looked tired and malnourished. Wolfgang looked the worst of the lot. His right arm--his sword arm-- had been severed just below the elbow. His head was covered, unlike normal, as the wrappings were used to cover his remaining arm and stop the bleeding. Wolfgang made some comments about some sort of sword prosthetic for his arm but without Doctor Fortunius he is at a loss as to where to acquire one.

The party was changed in other ways as well. For the first few days back in Orm, most of their number possessed unusual tricks. Wolfgang displayed an atypical threshold for bearing the effects of a flame. Hate Pit's ichor glowed a smoothing light blue color that pulsed in a rhythm.  GaWoosh could make his beard dance or light is pipe or perform other minor feats. But, by week's end, all of the peculiarities ceased.

Since their return, the members of this party has been seen discussing with Thea Noir a trip to "The Fungal Forest" and a "Glowing Dome". This trip, though, seems some ways off as the adventurers need to recover from their time way and Wolfgang seeks to adjust to the loss of his sword arm.

Here are a series of pages straight out of the adventuring journal of GaWoosh's player Curtis covering the events of these two sessions:

Agera's Offer to PakPak

Upon PakPak's return to Orm, he is visited at the ShopShop by the blue-furred mutant named Agera. The liberated Child of Peroma currently served as a retainer to the Dragon Slayer Crambo. On their last trip to the Twilight Shores, the group reclaimed the fmagical golden hand axe PakPak lost to the Cave Elves. She was given the axe by her employer Crambo. She would like return the hand axe to PakPak, with whom it belongs, but only if he is amicable to giving to her the Caduceus Staff so that she may return it to the Lunar Elf Aureul, with whom the staff belongs.
