Burning Witch Adventurers Session #70- There is money in the psychometry stand!

It had been a long time since anyone had ventured into the Complex. With adventurers traveling out to the City-States of Kouz and Barbasso, heading north to Soot Hill, and to the Twilight Shores; there just weren't enough of them in Orm to mount another expedition. It wasn't until a group returned from the Twilight Shores, heavy with the news of Scamandros' death, that it changed. With Scamadnros' passing came the arrival of his cousin, the holy man Kasalkor. Adorned in animal skins and bearing a mark that identified him as Scamandros' heir, the cleric of Gmork was ready to take up his deceased relatives line of work. In the Burning Witch, he found a handful of idle adventurers ready form the following party:

  • Betina (Level 4 Fighter)
    • Murfy (Level 1 Magic-User hireling)
  • Dogmouth (Level 3 Thief), deceased
    • Merry Mako (Level 1 Fighter hireling)
  • Kasalkor (Level 1 Cleric of the Gmork), deceased
    • Chancy (Level 0 Orphan hireling)
  • Frim Frimerson (Level 3 Fighter)
The group returned before the red sun had crept its way to its mid-day height. Like the party that had visited the fey Twilight Shores, this one also returned with heavy hearts. Dogmouth the Thief and Kasalkor both met grizzly fates as they were swallowed by a pitch black oozing creature (reported to be possibly a jam or a flan) as the party tried to lure the monster into a trap. At the  Burning Witch, they raised their drinks high and toasted to their fallen comrades.

The pairs fate, though, did not deter the group from wanting to return to the Complex to seek fortune. On their return, they were joined by Dogmouth's steadfast drinking buddy (and heir) and a member of the Transcendental Congress of the Aureate Precepts eager to study the lost languages in the Complex. Thefollowing party left Chancy and Merry Mako to drink to their fallen employers:
  • Betina (Level 4 Fighter)
    • Murfy
  • Bludoon (Level 1 Dwarf)
  • Frim Frimerson (Level 3 Fighter)
  • Ngorome (Level 1 Magic-User)
    • Axel (Level 0 Man-at-Arms), mute

This second party had better luck. Well, all but Axel had better luck. The man-at-arms member of the 111th Company had his throat hit in a fight, ruining his voice box permanently. If heavy load of ape person equipment the group brought back was worth the permanent disfigurement, only Axel could say. Before the party went their separate ways, Ngorome spread word around the Burning Witch the he was seeking any writings the humanoid-like gorillas may have had for he was seeking to create a phrase book for their language. The magic-user then headed off in the direction of the Athenaeum of the Dying Sun to talk to Journeyman Crannoc about some "orbs".
