Dragon Slayers of the Drinking Crow Session #18 **Updated with Bors' Journal Entry**

Mere days after their last expedition, the adventurers our of the Drinking Crow meet once again (minus the hero Malagath) to venture into the Complex. There is talk of exploring Level 3 of the Complex but Fredrick Featherstone redirects conversation to investigating the "Pool of Life" on the Level 2. The following crew set out towards the Complex carrying scythes:

  • Bors Redbeard (Level 4 Dwarf)
    • Lefty Redbeard (Level 1 Dwarf hireling)
  • Copra Kaan (Level 1 Vat Spawn)
  • Fredrick Featherstone (Level 4 Vestigater)
    • Gregor the Gray Ghosthound (faithful pooch)
  • Willow the Wisp (Level 2 Illusionist)
About an hour later, the party returned from the beach with Bors Redbeard looking especially tired. After dropping off their scythes, the headed north into the ruins of Orm-of-Old. Late afternoon, the party returned, covered in dirt. Copra and Bors possessed some mild acid burns. Gregor the Ghosthound was no longer grey as his fur had turned shock white. The were carrying a large quantity of silver coins and other treasures.

Lefty Redbeard celebrated their triumph over a pair of giant bugs by hitting the town. He was seen wooing one Veturia Casca will stories of his valorous exploits in 'The Complex'. Yarns of grizzly tunnel fights, ambushes by minoclops, and stacks of silver won. Lefty also talked of seeing a dog return to life by a magical pool maintained by mauve-skinned soldiers wearing pale green and violet-gray. Veturia seemed to enjoy the dwarf's company as the two were seen together throughout the week.

Here is another journal entry by Bors written by his player Shahnawaz:

Bors’ Journal

Entry eleven:

This adventure could have ended poorly, whether it be greed or just a senses of adventure, it was rough.  We decided to try a new path, and with it, we found stirges. Those pesky things almost killed me, and at one point, they did kill Featherstone’s dog Gregor.  We took Gregor with us and found a tunnel, which was populated with these borrowing creatures.  While Lefty and I did make short work of the one that popped up in-front of us, it did manage to spray me with its acid.  I was able to push Lefty out of the way and take the full force of it, but that with the stirges put me on my last leg.  After we dispatched of the other bug, we began digging out silver from this borrow, and we also found this magnificent axe.  It is a beauty to behold, and there is a power to it as well, we have to figure it out.  I see Copra wanting the axe as well, we will need to decide who will be using it.  But I feel once we find out all it can do, we will be able to reach a mutual decision.  About half-way through the digging, however, a Cyclopean Minotaur came and started to harass us about cleaning his testing labs.  Copra says the he came across this creature before, but was able to evade an encounter with it.  This time we would not be able to do so.  What seemed like it would be a hard and dangerous battle, ended up being a quick skirmish with some fancy sword work from yours truly. After all that, we went back through town to the entrance of the Complex that we normally go to.  From there we reached what I call the ‘Pool of Life’ although this time it was claimed.  We were able to bribe our way to using the pool and thus, returned Gregor back to the living.

Found among the ruins of Orm-of Old was a piece of paper containing the following:
