Burning Witch Adventurers Session #37- Rookies

The ranks of the adventurers and their hanger-ons the regularly populate the great room of the Burning Witch have thinned in recent weeks as Yellow Fever continues to run through Orm. Some of the newer participants in the exploration of the Complex (along with a few persons adjacent to the more experienced treasure hunters in Orm) decided to take the opportunity to launch a delve of their own into Level 1 of the Complex. The group included:

  • Copra Kaan (Level 1 Vatspawn)
  • Dog Dawg (Level 1 Cleric of Zotul)
    • Geoph (Level 1 Gnome hireling)
  • Kiddo (Level 1 Magic-User)
    • Chauncy (Level 0 Orphan hireling)
  • Morata (Level 1 Hob), deceased
  • One-Leg (Level 1 Vatspawn)
The party were seen returning from the ruins of Orm-Of-Old carrying a water-logged wooden chest. They were without their member Morata. After letting the chest dry out over night, the group split its contents.

The lock of the chest brought back by the party drawn by Morata's (and PakPak's) player Rob A.


A slip of paper was found on the ground near the water logged chest. It read:

Copra Kään’s To-Do List:

-Meet some new adventurers. 
-Explore a place I’ve never been. 
-Avoid some traps. 
-Avoid an ooze. 
-Watch some new friends get cut down. 
-Protect One-Leg while he reattaches his foot to his knee. 
-Kill a Stirge. 
-Choose not to fight some giant ants. 
-Discover a small room filled with crocs. Just crocs. 
-Avoid some crocs. 
-Retrieve a treasure chest. 
-Avoid some Stirges. 
-Burn the Stirge nest on the way out.

Geoph took his cut and was later seen wooing a comely gnome over drinks. He could be heard telling of an expedition deep into 'The Complex' where a compatriot of his employer, the hob Morata, was cut in half by some force imperceptible to the eye. He told of rooms filled with strange creatures and how the party lives to this day due to a skillful deployment of Geoph's own illusions against some strange, over-sized mosquito-like creatures.

Downtime Activity- Find the Right Buyer

  Dungeons are packed with treasure. After all, isn't that why adventurers decide to plumb their depths? While treasure finds of items that spend easily like coins of precious metals, gems, and jewelry often make up the winnings of successful adventuring expeditions; they are not the only items of value a party will haul back to the surface world.  Eager to make the most out of a group's expeditions, they often grab anything that looks like one could turn over for a quick coin or two. To turn such items into gold, though, adventurers have to locate an interested party to sell these art objects, non-magical tomes, trade goods, and other valuable dungeon oddities. Downtime in the Twilight Age

Outside of sessions at the table, time in the Twilight Age moves at a pace that matches our own. So one week passed in our world = one week passed in the Twilight age. This, combined with the proscription of ending each play session outside of danger, will mean players will find their characters with time to kill back in Orm between adventures at the table. What Is There Even To Do In Orm? Below is a list of downtime activities players can pursue between sessions. Most take one week to perform and those that don't will say in their rules (like magical research). Details for each activity are linked into the action title below.
