Adventurers of the Drinking Crow Session #10- The Death of Stench Firebeard
A new month as arrived and most of the adventurers based out of the Drinking Crow are broke. After offering up value gear as collateral to the local loan bank, the group was determined to retrieve a treasure haul from somewhere in Level 2 of "The Complex". The party's first expedition was without retainers. The returned carrying a wooden chest, a coffer, and a box packed with treasure. After paying off their debts and a night's rest, the party returned to the dungeon with hirelings in tow. This delve did not fair as well as their last and not all members returned. Neither Stench Firebeard nor hireling Sir Basilieus had a body to bring back. Bors Redbeard paid out the weregilt to the 111th Company for Sir Basilieus. Afterwards, Bors was glimpsed joining some games of chance in the cellar of the Drinking Crow.

Entry six:
I feel Stench and I never really got along, I guess I was expecting him to be more like his cousin, Björn, since they were both Clerics of the Golden Gnasher. While we did have our differences, I did not wish for his end to be like that. Those undead gnomes were a ferocious sight, to gouge out and eat the eyes from a living being like that, it’s unthinkable. Sir Basileus matched them in their ferocity though, he was a manifestation of pride and wrath! If it wasn’t for the day before when we were able to extract some wealth from the miserable place, I would not have witnessed such a display. It is a shame though that he was met with the same ferocity and also had succumbed to the Complex. If it wasn’t for the Hero Malagath, all would have been lost. He brought victory from the clutches of defeat. His method, while swift and terrifying, left nothing of the bodies of our fallen comrades, so we would not have to worry about them being raised as the vile undead. We were able to gather the remains of our comrades and while there is nothing to bury, I will hold a memorial service for them soon. I might write and read an ode to Sir Basileus and give it to the Exalted 111th Company, as for Stench, I will try my best to find the proper way to send off a member of the Golden Gnasher faith when there is no physical body. I hope that, while we did argue, that I will show him proper respect.
Ode to Sir Basileus
The Seven sins could not have a better champion.
A lust for all the fine things in life.
A hunger for the best foods.
…
I’m bad at odes and flowery words, but Sir Basileus was a cruel and greedy companion that killed and earned everything he got. Woe to those that his wrath was pointed towards, for his sword-arm was a terrible sight to behold, crushing and destroying all in his path. Ironically, it was the pride in his abilities that was his eventual demise, causing a crushing blow but in his slothness left himself open to a similar strike placed upon his head. He will be missed.
