A stranger, covered in wrappings, has arrived at the
Burning Witch. The tables around the tavern were filled with adventurers plotting missions to something called "The Complex". The new arrival plopped down at one with five experienced delvers discussing a map that one of them had bought off another party. After a little discussion, the zeroed in on checking out an elevator on the map. Settled on a task, the following party set out:
- Betina (Level 1 Fighter)
- Kay Em Dee (Level 0 Tuff), deceased
- Castora (Level 1 Knight of the Order of the Dragon)
- Feeble Finn (Level 1 Dwarf)
- Journeyman Crannoc (Level 2 Magic-User)
- Thea Noir (Level 2 Assassin)
- Wolfgang (Level 1 Duelist)

The armiger Castora and his page, the amnesiac vatspawn named by the party as Ur-Kel (all as drawn by Castora's player Curtis). |

The party returned an arsenal, two mauve-skinned strangers, and the body of Kay Em Dee. The long-surviving hireling dead with a burn in his torso. Betina poured one out for him at the
Burning Witch.

- What is the party going to do with its Vatspawn prisoner?
If anyone wants to do a
downtime activity, please post in the comments. Be on the look out for a post, however, covering a holiday that spans the same downtime.
Castora has been feeling tremendous guilt from his attack on the Vatspawn Urkel, which has left the poor mauve soul with amnesia and a gruesome facial scar. The trauma also seems to have reset his affiliation, as Urkel seems much friendlier now.
ReplyDeleteBecause the former adversary followed the party back to Orm with little direction or purpose, Castora hopes to completely outfit and fund the confused fighter, and take him on as a Page. If Castora survives long enough to earn the title of Knight, Urkel would be invited to stay on as a Squire.
So with those intentions, Castora chooses to cultivate that relationship with Urkel, and I’ve rolled a 5.
Curtis, could you make a second 2d6+Reaction Bonus roll?
ReplyDeleteI rolled an 8, I don’t think Castora gets a reaction bonus (charisma?)
DeleteSo, Ur-Kel (as he says it), accepts Castora's offer of employment thanks for his offers to generously outfit him. Castora, however, finds it difficult to made any headway in forming any deeper relationship with the vatspawn. He seems very disoriented by the amnesia he is suffering through and as a result, is very stand-offish.
DeleteIf possible, I'd like to try to cozy up with local landowners to get an idea of what Wolfgang's requirements will be for land and future building ownership.
ReplyDelete1. Crannoc will take a break from arcane studies, get some fresh air, and make an attempt at befriending the feathered beast. I roll a 7 with a Charisma of 16 or Wisdom of 13 if that's more appropriate.
ReplyDelete2. Crannoc wants to test out that strange bread we found. Gingerly, in case it breaks his teeth. How does it respond to being cut with a knife and dipped into wine? Does the innkeeper recognize the style?
How is Crannoc attempting to befriend the beast?
DeleteTreats and games of tug-rope. Also, just sitting nearby, chilling, and reading my scrolls.
DeleteCool. Crannoc gains another level of trust with the creature. Not quite enough to have it accompany him on an adventure but it is a lot more comfortable around him.
DeleteBetina had grown quite fond of Kay Em Dee during their adventures together. She's quite distraught at the loss of such a loyal companion. As a downtime activity, she will go the Spiritual Exercises route by praying to the still unfamiliar (to her at least) god she tried petioning when she lost her eyes. I rolled 1+1=2 minus my Wisdom modifier of -1. LOL.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is that Betina finds her bereavement too much? She can't keep her mind focused on this spiritual communion in one sitting to make any headway. Instead, she just thinks of the loss of her companion.
DeleteSo much great art being made inspired by these games! I really like those character drawings @Curtis/Castora.
