Burning Witch Adventurers Session #9 **Updated**

A group of adventurers have been huddled in the back of the Burning Witch off and on all week centered around the gnome Gawoosh. The burrower desired to alleviate the plight that a clan of his people in the "Complex" faced at the hands of the Order of the Illuminated Eye. The distressing news from the last party to mount an expedition from the tavern and lack of a plan confident of sure success, the Gawoosh scrapped his plan and the group just decided to explore a previously unexplored section of the "Complex". The group numbered:
  • Bors Redbeard (Level 1 Dwarf)
    • His brothers Lefty and Whiskers (Level 1 Dwarves)
  • Feeble Finn (Level 1 Dwarf)
  • Frim Frimerson (Level 1 Fighter)
  • Gawoosh (Level 1 Gnome)
  • PakPak (Level 1 Kobold)
  • Thea Noir (Level 1 Assassin)
The party returned, for the first time in nearly a fortnite, battered but intact and all living. The dwarven brothers gleefully singing the praised of Frim the Spear Dicked. Late into the night, the Burning Witch is filled with laughs and dwarven drinking melodies shaped to recount how Frim slew undead with the spear-like member between his legs.

Bors’ Journal
Entry two:
PakPak and Gawoosh invited me to head on into the dungeon with the Burning Witch crew.  I hired my brothers to go along, and it seemed that they unionized as well, 25g each.  I started to be annoyed by it, but the more I thought about it the more I wish I did that when we all came to Orm.  They’re very capable and I think that they were worth it.  It’s a smarter business move than getting a split of the treasure because sometimes there really isn’t any.
This time we went further along the secret path were Fräänk and Rustam died.  Most of the rooms were all dilapidated and there was nothing in them.  In the second kitchen, there was the smell of gas and a slime monster in it.  We threw in a torch and shut the door and it blew the monster up and got rid of the gas temporarily.  As we explored, we found a room with a floating orb in the center of it.  After some experimenting, it seems that it glows brighter whenever anything magical is in the same room.  There was a glyphed door in the room to the south but we could not open it up.  We went further and we found a room with a floating table, it is able to be moved, but it takes some effort to do.  In the room right next to it, there were some more undead folk.  We dispatched them quite well.  I’m proud to say that my brothers both took some mighty hits, but are still standing.  The path we took looped around back into the room with the floating ball, but we went through it and went to another area where there was an alter that was made of stone with a book in it.  We took a rubbing of the book as we didn’t want to chisel the book out.  As we were doing that, a big spider came and attacked us, it climbed back up the wall, but I was able to lasso it back down and we killed it dead.  I took the head off and gave it to Thea, because I know she works with poisons, and we got some spider legs for Frim, hopefully that would be a satisfying meal, he always seems hungry, poor guy.
We were able to pay the guy making Rustam’s leg to convert it to fit Finn’s, PakPak is a good friend to have it seems, he might be another hero like Malagath.

  1. Pakpak does pay Meag and does researching the rubbing of the altar fall under non-magical research?

    1. Ah, yes! Such research would fall under non-magical research. Two possible roads of research present themselves to PakPak for investigating the rubbing. One would be talking to the assorted wild-eyed holy persons, street preachers, and mendicants of the Alley of the gods to see if any are familiar with the contents of the rubbing. The second would be to attend a meeting of the Society of the Coruscating Seal. You can submit the rubbing to the meeting agenda and then engage in a investigation and debate of the matter with the assorted theoretical magicians in attendance as reference assorted tomes.

    2. Ok PakPak takes the rubbing to a meeting of the Society of the Coruscating Seal as a piece of interest hoping that they might be able to help him glean it's meaning or decipher it.
